Making, cancelling & amending a booking

How can I enhance my reservation?

You can enhance your reservation via your individual guest portal over Alliants or reach out to our team at [email protected] for all options to tailor your stay to your needs.

What is the cancellation policy?

Policies can vary for special offers and packages. Please review the booking description of your reservation. If you have booked a flexible rate, cancellations must be made before 6pm the day prior to arrival. If you cancel after 6pm the day prior to arrival, you will be charged a cancellation fee of one night’s room and tax. Fully pre-paid bookings are non-refundable. An early departure fee of $50 will be charged if guests check out prior to their departure date. For more information regarding our cancellation policy, please refer to our Terms & Conditions page.

What times are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 4PM. Check-out is by 12PM.

Can I store luggage at the hotel?

Luggage storage is available to guests of the hotel through the Front Desk at no charge. Luggage can be held at the hotel during your stay for up to 24 hours after departure. The hotel is not responsible for luggage stored over 24 hours after departure.

Is hotel parking available?

Overnight valet parking is available at $64 per vehicle per night. For locals or short stay parking, our dining-rate valet parking is available at $25 per vehicle for up to 3 hours or day-rate valet parking is available at $50 for up to 8 hours.

Is parking available nearby?

There are ample parking garages or street parking available around a 2-block radius of the hotel however are often limited in availability.

Does the property have EV charging stations

We don't offer EV charging stations. The closest garage with EV charging stations we recommend can be found here.

Do you offer a shuttle service?

We don’t offer a shuttle service, but our reception team can arrange private transportation for you.

Can you organize transportation for me?

We can arrange airport transportation or daily car service through our private transportation offerings by reaching out to [email protected]

How do I reach the hotel and where is the entrance?

For international travel via Dulles International Airport, we recommend car service to best reach the hotel. For national travel via Reagan National Airport, either car service or metro station service is recommended. The hotel entrance is on F St. at the intersection of 9th and F.

Does the hotel have Bicycles available?

We have bicycles available for day-rental on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please enquire with our front desk team to arrange a reservation.

What is the nearest underground station?

The hotel is in Penn Quarter and is within close proximity to the Gallery Place and Metro Center Stations. Guests are also welcome to book transportation services through our Front Desk team. 

Do I need to provide credit card details?

Guests must be 21 with valid I.D. to check-in. A valid credit card is required at check-in. In addition to room and tax, an additional $100 per night will be held on your credit card to guarantee any incidental charges.

Which payments methods are accepted?

All major credit cards are accepted. At the hotel, charges can be settled with cash or debit card. We do not accept travelers’ checks or personal checks.

Can charges be settled by a third party?

They may be settled by a third party via a Credit Card Authorization Form being completed and emailed back to the hotel but is subject to the guest's and hotel's discretion for approval.

Can I prepay for my booking?

Prepaid bookings require a Credit Card Authorization Form to be completed and emailed back to the hotel. This form is available by calling the hotel directly. Such submissions are subject to our Privacy Policy.

Are gift vouchers available for purchase?

Yes indeed. We offer accommodation, dining and monetary Gift Cards online here. We think they make a rather lovely gift!

Can I receive a final bill upon check-out?

Yes, a final bill can be sent directly to you upon check-out.  Just email our Front Desk Team at [email protected]

Does the hotel offer breakfast?

Breakfast isn’t included, but available daily in Cafe Riggs – our restaurant. We do offer bed and breakfast packages which you can book online or with our Reservations team upon check-in.

What features are included in the rooms?

All rooms have a vault-inspired minibar, safe, Nespresso machine with regular and decaf options, black-out curtains, and D.S. & Durga toiletry & bathroom amenities. Rooms are equipped with a 55" flat screen tv, including streaming services, and offer complimentary Wi-Fi. All rooms also include a bespoke umbrella and tote bag from hotel, as well as slippers, bathrobes, steamers, and hairdryers.

What hotel amenities are available for all guests

Located on our vault level, our Riggs gym offers state-of-the-art fitness, 24 hours a day. In room bath amenities are D.S. & Durga’s ‘Debaser’ scent, which capture the nostalgia of summer. Guests are welcome to use our complimentary Priority bicycles to explore Penn Quarter and visit nearby landmarks. Bikes are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Are you a dog friendly hotel?

We accept dogs of all sizes with a $100 one-time pet fee per stay and a pet agreement form signed upon check in.  We are a dog friendly hotel and welcome our four-legged friends with open arms.

Are your restaurants dog friendly?

Due to DC requirements, pets are not permitted in our restaurants or bar spaces. 

Do you have wheelchair accessible rooms and outlets?

We have 9 rooms that are wheelchair accessible at Riggs Washington DC. Please book these in advance due to their availability.

What accessible features do you have?

All accessible rooms have a roll-in shower with shower-bars and toilet-bars. They are also equipped with accessible doorways and lowered sinks.

Are your bedrooms non-smoking?

All rooms are non-smoking.

Do you have rooms where I can open the windows?

With the historic nature of our building, we do not have rooms with windows that open.

Is it possible to arrange additional amenities or gifts?

We have ample options to enhance your stay; please reach out to our team at [email protected] to enquire about all available options.

Do you have bathtubs in the rooms?

Bathtubs are not standard in the rooms; however you can inquire about our suites with bathtubs with our reservations team.

Does the hotel have a concierge team?

We do not have a concierge team; however, our guest experience team can provide many options in or out of the hotel to enhance your stay in DC.

What restaurant and bar facilities are available at the hotel?

In the grand tradition of French cuisine, Café Riggs presents a contemporary American brasserie that reimagines classic dishes within a vibrant setting. Step into Silver Lyan, the inviting underground world created by bar visionary Ryan Chetiyawardana ("Mr Lyan") in Riggs Washington DCs historic bank vault.

Does the hotel offer Room Service?

Our In-Room Dining Menu is available during operating restaurant hours for room service. The menu includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, dessert, wine and cocktails.

Is a children's menu available?

Cafe Riggs offers a children's menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which can be found here. Silver Lyan does not permit minors in the bar after 7pm.

Can dietary preferences and allergies be accommodated?

We have ample vegetarian and vegan options in all our spaces, which our service team is equipped to walk you through all options whenever dining.

Does the hotel have water fountains available for guests?

We do not have water fountains in public areas outside of our gym. For your room, we delivery bottled water as part of our housekeeping services or water can be requested through our reception team or by dialing 0 from your room.

Are there running and cycling routes around the hotel?

Yes, there are bike routes throughout the city. Guests can also run around the national Mal and memorials.

Does the property have a hypo allergenic offering?

Yes, our housekeeping team can prepare the room with non-feather bedding upon request.

What wellness and beauty offerings are there

We do not have a spa on property, but our team can organize appointments for local spas or spa treatments in room through our preferred partners. Appointments may be made by contacting our team at [email protected]. Alternatively, our minibar includes wellness patches by Ross J. Barr or facemasks by 111Skin.

What wellness facilities are available for all guests?

The Gym at Riggs is equipped with state-of-the-art strength training and cardio offerings - including Peloton bikes - and is open and available to registered guests, 24 hours a day.

Is the hotel suitable for families?

Yes, the hotel is completely child friendly. We offer special Family Packages, adjoining rooms or suites that are best suited for larger families. Additionally, we offer cribs and children's amenities upon request.

Can I have an extra bed in my room?

A fee applies for to have an adult rollaway bed added to a room. A supplement of $30 is charged for an additional bed for children between 3 to 12 years of age. An additional bed for guests of 13+ will be charged the full price ($50).

Does the hotel offer connecting rooms?

Are you able to provide baby cribs?

We can provide cribs upon request through making a reservation or reaching out to our team at [email protected].

Are there any age restrictions?

Guests must be 21 years or older to reserve a room. Minors should stay at the hotel with company aged 21 and above. Service of alcoholic beverages is restricted to those 21 years and above (with valid identification).

Is it possible to store breast milk?

We do not store breast milk for our guests; however, we can offer a fridge/freezer for guests to use on their own.

Do you have international power adaptors?

You can find international power adaptors with our reception team or for a fee in your minibar.

Is there a lost & found?

Yes, we offer a Lost & Found service. We can ship forgotten items back to you or arrange onsite pickup. Please note that shipping costs will be your responsibility. Items will be kept for at least one month, depending on their value.

Can I store medication?

We do not store medication for our guests; however, we can offer a fridge/freezer for guests to use on their own.

Who do I contact if I want to book an event at the hotel?

Will the hotel accept packages addressed to me before I arrive?

We will accept packages up to 14 days in advance of your reservation. Packages should be addressed to your name and include your date of stay with delivery to 900 F St. NW, Washington DC, 20004.

What are the key local attractions within walking distance of the hotel?

National Portrait Gallery, Ford’s Theatre, Café Riggs, Penn Quarter shops | National Mall (Smithsonian, monuments), Capital One Arena, 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.

Does the property have 24-hour security?

We have 24-hour security for any and all needs.

Does the property have a responsible sourcing policy?

Riggs DC is aligned with Lore Groups Responsible Sourcing policy for all procurement of goods and services.

Does the property use renewable energy?

In 2025 Riggs DC invested in Renewable Energy of Origin (RECs) certificates to guarantee green technology that supplies the local electricity grid. This covers all property electricity consumption.

Does the property measure its carbon footprint?

Riggs DC measures and has third party assurance of all Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO22 emissions. The property partially measures Scope 3 Co2e emissions including water; waste; refrigerants and external laundry emissions.

Does the property have any sustainability/green certifications?

Does the hotel make a donation for booked rooms?

Through Lore Group’s partnership with Made Blue, every room night sold across our hotels' funds 100 liters of clean, fresh water.
